Hifz Academy

Asalamualaikum,

Dear brothers and sisters,

ISGH would like to present a project before you, which has been in place and evolving since April of 2011. It started with approximately 20 students and was shaped as an evening Islamic school. The specifics of the programs were such:

Two hours, Monday to Friday from 5-7 pm

The material consisted of Quranic courses and Islamic Studies which includes Aqaaid, Fiqh, Tareekh, Adaab, and Hadith

As the months passed, students increased in number as they also progressed in their studies. Their development included learning how to recite the Quran with tajweed and having a broader and clearer understanding of Islam.

Currently, ISGH evening school is accommodating 55 students. Their ages range from 5 to 16 years old. We have 4 qualified teachers to educate the students. Two of which are males the other two are female. In response to the enthusiasm of the students and the concerns of the parents, we have decided to take this project to the next level which can benefit the Muslim community at large.

ISGH Hifz Academy

The project comprises of the merging between the two, the ISLAMIC and the SECULAR education, giving this school the brand DARUL ULOOM HARRISBURG!

Objective:

Our short-term goal is to produce qualified Huffaaz while also providing them a secular education. We understand that this is a very ambitious goal but to bring it into reach, we have allowed for extra time. Our long-term goal is to produce scholars and Imams.

We have also made provisions for those parents who are not interested in the Hifz program but are concerned about providing an Islamic environment for their children. They are encouraged to join the PA Cyber School along with the evening school.

Strategy to achieve the objective

Islamic Education

  • Memorization of Quran
  • Reading Quran with Tajweed
  • Islamic Studies

Secular Education

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Arts

Teaching Staff

The Hifz ul-Quran and Islamic education program and the cyber academy will be operated by qualified staff. Only a Hafiz who is exemplary in his or her compliance to sharia will be given this great responsibility of teaching the Quran

Admission Criteria

The admission criteria for the Hifz and the cyber academy program are that the child must be in grade three or above and must be able to read from the text of the Quran. If parents would like to enroll their child only in the cyber academy program then this will only be allowed with the co-requisite of enrollment in the evening school.

Facility

As you know, Allah has blessed our community with a big campus along with our Masjid. The campus includes a big gym, numerous classrooms, ample parking space, and much more. To top it off, it is also conveniently located close to downtown. So let us take advantage of it and thank Allah by using it and not abandoning it.

Fee and Transportation

A reasonable fee of $10 per month per child will be charged. Any families that are less fortunate and are unable to pay the fees, will be supported by the ISGH zakat funds.

Similarly, transportation will be provided and will be reasonably charged if we have enough students attending the school from a particular location.
